Recall Issues
I have been accused of:
Mismanagement of District Funds

You may have been told that there has been an unreasonable, unacceptable increase in tax levy, or that there has been a misuse of funds
The balanced perspective: Spending per MTSD student is equal to or less than our surrounding districts. Spending increases (+6.0%) since 2016 have been below the rate of inflation (+6.7%).
Even when including the 2021 increase due to the approved tax levy referendum, the MTSD mill rate has decreased from $8.15 in 2016 to $7.96 in 2021. This is well below the state average of $9.22 and is one of the lowest mill rates among area school districts.
Additionally, as an indicator of our fiscal excellence, MTSD is one of only 3 public school districts in Wisconsin to hold a Aaa bond rating from Moody’s rating agency (which is the highest possible rating).
As a result of this rating and strong, conservative fiscal management, the District will save almost $16 million in referendum interest costs.
