Introduction

I thank you for taking the time to learn more about the issues that have become focal points of the recall effort.

I think it is important to note the political aspects of the current recall efforts in MTSD and that recalls of large sets of school board members are occurring all over the state and nation. https://ballotpedia.org/School_board_recalls

“In a wealthy Milwaukee suburb, a law firm heavily financed by a conservative foundation that has fought climate change mitigation and that has ties to former President Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election helped parents seeking to recall Mequon-Thiensville school board members, chiefly over the board’s hiring of a diversity consultant. A new national advocacy group, Parents Defending Education, promoted the Wisconsin parents’ tactics as a model.”

Activists going after Wisconsin school boards are aided and funded by national conservative groups and GOP donors.

  • School Boards are to be non-partisan for a good reason:  Students are not to become political footballs.

  • Political agendas should never dictate actions taken by school board members.

  • Student achievement and welfare must always come first.

WE MUST NOT PLAY POLITICAL FOOTBALL WITH THE EDUCATION OF OUR STUDENTS!

Paraphrased from WASB (Wisconsin Association of School Boards):

“School governance is founded on the belief that a group of very different people representing various constituencies in their district can make better decisions than any one person alone. That diversity is the board’s strength. Your goal should be to determine the best solution to an issue by working together to try and accommodate all views. You want the students to be the “winners” — not one board member or another.”

We have this type of Board now.

Reject the Recall.

Keep Students First, not Politics

Re-elect the four Board members up for recall.
